Joe, take a look at your battery terminals wires. Sometimes when the battery terminal wires are not in full contact with battery terminals because of corrosion, your radio could cut in and out. Try removing your battery terminal wires from the battery, clean them with a wire brush and re-install. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2000 Ford Focus radio troubleshooting.
I hooked up an aftermarket radio as above (which I had to remove after years of working fine and re-install the same) and have a problem being that when the car physically moves (the wheels move), the radio cuts out completely. Otherwise it worked fine. Any ideas? Ground/code issues? It is driving me crazy.
Is a 2000 ford focus factory stereo compatible in a 2001 ford focus?
Michael, most installers will run the power cable from the battery, through the firewall, under the carpet (near the door sill) and to your amplifier location for hook up. Installers usually run the power wire through a rubber grommet or drill a new hole in the firewall. Just make sure you zip tie the cable down so it does not move. Also, make sure when you run the cable through the firewall that you use a rubber grommet to protect the power cable from rubbing on any bare metal. Hope this helps. Good luck.
